Johnson Slough Yacht Club

Organized in 1958, the purposes of the Johnson Slough Yacht Club are to promote sailing, give sailing instruction, schedule sailboat racing, and instruct participants about water safety. Preservation of the lake and its shoreline has been a continuing interest. In addition, the Club has numerous social activities, and all residents are welcome, regardless of their interest in sailing. Membership is open to all Golfview residents and annual dues are $25.

Our chartered Sunfish Fleet 79 competes on the lake in nationally sponsored regattas. For more than thirty years, JSYC has hosted the last Regional Regatta of the sailing season in this area: The Great Pumpkin Regatta in late October, which is well attended by top- ranked regional competitors.

Social activities include the Commodore's Party, Watermelon Race and Don Mitchell Race on July 4th, various mid-summer parties, and the Dry Dock Ball in November, when sailing trophies are awarded. The Junior Yacht Club is a junior program and needs volunteers and interested kids. Open to young people 8 to 16 years of age who wish to learn sailing, sailboat racing, sailing rules and water safety. There is no fee for juniors, but parents are asked to join Yacht Club and participate with their children. Yacht Club members volunteer as instructors and boats are made available for any junior who wants to participate, with two or three juniors to a boat. Watch our newsletters emailed to all owners for more information.
